2020 aside, the health industry grew every year from 2008 to 2019, and it’s only a matter of time before more people start returning to gyms, because — let’s face it — the need to live a healthy life is not going away anytime soon.
But if you work for MDC, you don’t need to pay for a gym membership. Access to on-site fitness facilities is one of many benefits of being a CO. Additionally, the health plan includes a gym membership with a local health club with a number of city-wide locations.
Americans spend $30 billion per year on health clubs and fitness memberships, 60% of these memberships go unused. That’s an average of $58 per month or $696 per year that’s lost, usually because of a lack of time or a feeling of self-consciousness.
Whether it’s the cost or the time, the benefit of exercising at your place of work solves many problems. For one, access to the facilities is offered at no additional cost. Additionally, you won’t lose time out of your day driving to and from the gym. Finally, there are the health benefits that come with being able to visit the gym regularly.
There are even more people who aren’t paying for a membership at all because of the cost. This doesn’t mean these people don’t want to be healthy. But many of us have trouble justifying that monthly expense, especially when it involves the extra time it takes to travel to and from the gym.
