Diversity – A Shining Hallmark of Our Team
As the largest city in New Mexico, Albuquerque is a vibrant and diverse place. The demographic mix of inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) looks like the mix of our city. Having a corrections staff that also represents the city’s residents makes communication easier.
We’re proud of the diversity we have among the staff of the MDC, and we work hard to keep it. This diversity assists us in managing the inmate population. Our corrections officers have similar cultural and ethnic backgrounds as our inmates. This makes it easier for them to understand their concerns.
Having a diverse staff also makes it easier for everyone to communicate and better serve our inmate population. Diversity among our staff leads to better communication and increased inclusion. It makes it easier for inmates to talk to us about medical and social concerns. That means that we can address problems while they are still easy to solve, rather than once they have escalated.
Diversity among our corrections officers is just one way that MDC keeps its promise to our community. If diversity is important to you – and you’re committed to serving the community – a career with MDC could be a perfect fit.
